Berghia Nudibanchs (A. stephanae)
These are young adult Berghia nudibranchs for elimination of Aiptasia anemones. They are raised and bred with superior aiptasia hunting ability. Acclimation is best kept easy. Next: Shipping container preparation for reef insertion.
Shipping container preparation for reef insertion: Remove the parafilm seal around the jar lid. The salt water is a fresh batch for Berghia transporting and placing in your aquarium. The shipment water can still be replaced with an acclimation if desired. Float the jar in the sump to adjust the temperature for 15 minutes.
Inserting in Tank: If your aquarium is replicating natural ocean water salinity, a lengthy acclimation is not necessary. When ready, Press “Feed Mode” on your circulation pumps to stop currents. Remove the jar top while holding it over the tank. If there is a mishap the water is a great landing spot for the Berghia. Now put the jar inside the aquarium. Next brace the jar with the Berghia inside on or against the rocks with a small rock or shell. Allow the Berghia to crawl out on their own during the night. The Berghia will find the Aiptasia even if they are on the other side of the tank. Do not attempt handling or pipetting adult Berghia. Do not attempt using a net. Do not drop them in as if they are food for the fish.
After Entry: Berghia will adjust to your system routines over the next week or two. Then one day an Aiptasia will be missing, and then another. They take a little time and are the one complete solution to the pest Aiptasia.
