Who We Are

At Inland South Texas Aquaculture Reef (INSTAR) The Berghia Farm began in 2004 breeding clownfish, seahorses and Berghia nudibranchs. Before anyone heard of Berghia, we started the first website to sell Berghia as berghia dot net. Today a few others have small Berghia to sell as well. We specialize in providing Berghia Nudibranchs for Aiptasia control in saltwater aquariums. December 2009 our Aiptasia facility, a greenhouse was destroyed by an historic long hard freeze. We no longer had a food source for the Berghia. Since that time we built a new, sustainable facility to return to our passion for reef keeping to deliver a natural, reef-safe solution for the pest Aiptasia to reef keepers. Our Berghia stephanieae (v.2005) will eliminate the invasive Aiptasia with no side effects to your beautiful, thriving, healthy coral reef systems.

Our Story

Like many hobbyists, we once struggled with Aiptasia outbreaks that threatened the beauty and balance of our reef tanks. Chemical treatments and quick fixes caused stress to our corals, fish, and invertebrates—without solving the problem. That’s when we discovered the effectiveness of the Berghia Nudibranch, a small sea slug that feeds exclusively on Aiptasia. Inspired by its natural efficiency, we created The Berghia Farm to make this solution available to aquarists everywhere.
